YOGA & MOVEMENT THERAPY

YOGA CLASSES

Private yoga classes for 1-2 people at HighVibe Living & Off-site Corporate Yoga Classes

Hatha Yoga

Hatha is at the foundation of most yoga styles. It is the branch of yoga which concentrates on both physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. A class with me often includes intention setting, sound therapy, neck/shoulder/head massage.

There are nearly 200 Hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations, which work to make the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also strengthen, stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

Regardless of your age, shape, or range of flexibility, yoga can benefit you. It's about getting to know yourself and revering who you are. All movements can be modified to fit your capabilities. There is no ego or competition----just you, listening to and honoring your body.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a gentler practice where floor postures are held for extended periods of time. The body's deeper connective tissues are worked with focus on ligaments, joint capsules, and connective tissue, as well as the hips, thighs, pelvis and lower back to release tension, improve joint mobility and alleviate pain. Enjoy the meditative qualities of the practice in a candlelit room filled with tranquil music.

Participants may be invited to receive the Life Force Energy known as Reiki during their Yin Yoga practice. Reiki is an ancient, laying of hands energy healing system that can be administered with or without touch, and serves recipients on a physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual level. This is an optional offering, that can be respectfully declined at the time the invitation is extended. Suitable for all levels.

THERAPEUTIC YOGA MASSAGE

This sacred form of bodywork utilizes vital energy (life force), rhythmic compression with gentle rocking, deep therapeutic stretching, breath work, prayer and meditation. The pactitioner may use their hands, feet, knees, elbows and forearms, and operate in a state of mindful awareness. In addition to deeply relaxing, many people report feeling energetic and light after a session. This work relaxes tight muscles, improves posture and alignment, promotes circulation and restores harmony to mind, body, and spirit. All of the work is done on a mat on the floor.

SOMATIC MOVEMENT THERAPY

Somatic Movement works directly with the nervous system to release chronic muscular tension, relieve chronic pain, and improve posture and movement. Somatic exercises are gentle movement patterns that shift your central nervous system to create new muscular habits. These new habits can alleviate chronic muscle spasms and pain caused by overuse patterns. These exercises are most beneficial when you: dress comfortably; focus on the internal sensation of the movements; move slowly, gently, and patiently; and refrain from forcing movement (refrain from causing pain).
